How to use the age calculator
Enter a date of birth to see the exact age today in years, months and days, along with the total number of months, weeks and days lived and a countdown to the next birthday. To find age on a particular date — such as an exam or job application cut-off — fill in the Age on field.
How age is calculated
- Count the completed years between the birth date and the target date.
- From the most recent birthday, count completed months.
- Count the remaining days.
Worked example
Someone born on 15 August 1995 is, on 26 January 2026: 30 completed years (last birthday 15 August 2025), 5 completed months (to 15 January 2026) and 11 days — so 30 years, 5 months, 11 days.
Where you need an exact age in India
- Government exams and jobs: UPSC, SSC, banking and state PSC exams set upper and lower age limits as on a specific cut-off date, with relaxations for reserved categories.
- School admissions: many states and boards require a minimum age as on a date such as 31 March or 1 June for entry to Class 1.
- Retirement and pensions: retirement ages, senior citizen benefits (60+) and super senior tax slabs (80+) depend on exact age.
- Insurance and loans: premiums and maximum loan tenures are linked to the applicant's age.
Leap-year birthdays
If you were born on 29 February, you have a true birthday only every four years. For counting completed years, this calculator treats 1 March as the birthday in non-leap years, which is the convention used in many legal systems.

How is exact age calculated?
Count full years since your birth date, then full months since your last birthday, then the remaining days. If the day-of-month hasn't been reached yet, borrow the days from the previous month.
How is age calculated for someone born on 29 February?
In non-leap years, this calculator treats the birthday as falling on 1 March for the purpose of counting a completed year and the next-birthday countdown.
Can I calculate age on a specific date?
