Why PDF to Word conversion is imperfect
A PDF is designed to look the same everywhere, so it stores exactly where each line of text and image sits on the page — not paragraphs, headings or table structure. A converter has to reconstruct that structure, which works well for straightforward documents and less well for complex designs. If you only need to change a few words, it's often quicker to fix the original source document if you still have it.
Tips for the best result
- Use the original PDF rather than a scan or a printed-and-rescanned copy.
- After converting, turn on formatting marks in Word (¶) to spot stray line breaks, and use “Replace” to tidy them up.
- Need to submit the edited document as a PDF again? Save it as PDF from Word, then use the PDF compressor if it's too large for an upload.

Frequently asked questions
Will the Word file look exactly like my PDF?
Simple documents — letters, reports, resumes — convert closely. Complex layouts with multiple columns, tables or unusual fonts may need some tidying, because PDF records where text sits on the page rather than its structure.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?
A scanned PDF contains pictures of pages, not text, so the result isn't editable. That needs OCR (optical character recognition), which this tool doesn't do yet.
Can I open the result in Google Docs?
Yes. The output is a standard .docx file that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and WPS Office.
What happens to my file?
It's uploaded over HTTPS, converted automatically, and both the PDF and the Word file are permanently deleted from our server within 1 hour.
