How to Convert PDF to Word (Editable DOCX)

Need to update an old resume, agreement or report you only have as a PDF? Converting it to Word (.docx) lets you edit it like any other document.
Step by step
- Open the PDF to Word tool and choose your PDF (up to 50 MB).
- Click Convert. It takes a few seconds for most documents.
- Download the .docx and open it in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
What converts well — and what doesn't
- Works best: PDFs made from Word, Google Docs or other software — text, tables and images come across editable.
- May need tidying: complex layouts with many columns or text boxes. Check line breaks and fonts after converting.
- Won't be editable: scanned documents and photos of pages. They need OCR, which isn't supported yet.
Only need a small change?
To fix a date, add a signature or white-out a line, you don't need Word at all — use the PDF editor directly in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I edit the text after converting a scanned PDF?
A scanned PDF contains pictures of pages, not text. Turning those pictures into editable text needs OCR (optical character recognition), which this converter doesn't do yet.
Is my PDF kept on the server?
No. It's uploaded over HTTPS, converted automatically, and both the PDF and the Word file are deleted from the server within one hour.
