How to build your resume
- Paste the job description (optional but recommended). The builder uses it to check keywords and to tailor AI suggestions. It isn't printed on your resume.
- Upload your existing resume (PDF or Word) to fill in the form automatically, or type your details, summary, work experience, education and skills. The preview updates as you type.
- Use the AI buttons to write a summary, turn rough notes into strong bullet points and suggest skills. Review each suggestion and replace any
[placeholders]with your real numbers. - Work through the ATS check until everything passes and your keyword match is high.
- Download as PDF or Word, or save it to your account to edit later.
What an ATS-friendly resume looks like
Most companies and job portals — Naukri, LinkedIn, Indeed and company career pages — run resumes through an applicant tracking system (ATS) before a recruiter sees them. The ATS extracts your text and ranks you on how well it matches the job. Fancy two-column templates, tables, icons and text inside images often come out scrambled or empty. This builder avoids all of them:
- One column, top to bottom, in the order recruiters expect.
- Standard headings: Professional Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills.
- Real, selectable text in a common font — no photos, graphics or skill bars.
- Dates in a consistent format, such as
Apr 2021 – Present.
Writing bullet points that get shortlisted
Start each point with an action verb, say what you did, and show the result with a number wherever you can. Compare:
| Weak | Strong |
|---|---|
| Responsible for GST returns | Filed monthly GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B for 3 entities with zero late fees |
| Handled customer complaints | Resolved 40+ customer tickets a day, raising CSAT from 82% to 91% |
| Worked on the company website | Rebuilt the product pages in React, cutting load time by 45% |
Keep it to one page for up to about 5 years of experience and two pages at most after that. Freshers can add projects, internships and certifications to show what they can do.
Matching keywords honestly
The keyword check lists important terms from the job description that your resume doesn't mention yet. Add the ones that genuinely describe your experience, using the same wording as the job post — for example “SAP FICO” rather than just “SAP”. Don't add skills you don't have: interviewers will ask about them.
Privacy
Your resume is kept in your browser as you type and the PDF and Word files are created on your device. AI suggestions send only the parts of your resume needed for the request — never your name, email or phone number. See our Privacy Policy. Need to fix a PDF you already have? Try our PDF editor.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upload my existing resume?
Yes. Click Upload existing resume and choose a PDF, Word (.docx) or text file. It's read in your browser — not uploaded to our server — and your details, experience, education and skills are filled in for you to check. For unusual or two-column layouts, Organise sections with AI can sort the text more accurately. Scanned (image-only) PDFs and old .doc files can't be read.
What makes a resume ATS-friendly?
Applicant tracking systems read resumes as plain text. They work best with a single column, standard headings (Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills), real text rather than images, no tables or text boxes, and the same keywords the job description uses. This builder produces exactly that layout.
PDF or Word — which should I upload?
Use whatever the job portal asks for. Both files from this builder contain real, selectable text in the same order, so ATS can read either. If the portal doesn't say, PDF keeps your formatting exactly; some older ATS prefer Word (.docx).
How does the AI help?
It can write or improve your summary, rewrite your job descriptions as strong, results-focused bullet points, suggest skills, and review your resume against a job description. It's told never to invent facts — where a number would help, it leaves a [placeholder] for you to fill in. Always review suggestions before using them.
Is my personal information sent to the AI?
No. Only your job titles, companies, dates, bullet points, education, skills and the job description are sent — never your name, email, phone number, location or links. AI features need an account and are limited per day.
Should I add a photo, date of birth or marital status?
No. Most employers in India no longer expect them, they take up space, and ATS ignore them. Name, phone, email, city and LinkedIn are enough.
Can I type my resume in Hindi?
Not yet — the PDF uses standard fonts that support English letters, numbers and common symbols. The ₹ sign is written as Rs. automatically.
